| The beginning of every record re-mastering process is the cleaning of the output medium. The more intensive and exact this process is implemented the better the final product will turn out.
Two different cleaning methods can be chosen.
1. Dry Cleaning
This method involves removing dust and fingerprints etc from the record using cloths and brushes. However this process can not remove all dust particles. Using this method also leads to a significant increase in effort when using the subsequent digital processes in order to remove remaining noises.
2. "Wet" Cleaning
To achieve this Carat 24 uses the best cleaning equipment on the market. First of all the record is cleaned using a specialized liquid. Subsequently the loosened residues are sucked out of record's grooves using a vacuum pump. This process, unlike the "dry cleaning" method, guarantees that the record is 100% "clean" for the follow-up digital cleaning processes.
A further problem which arises when digitalizing vintage recordings is warping. This is often the case with LPs. In 40 to 50% of cases the problem of warping arises at the pressing stage. The subsequent distortion of course results in an unpleasant listening experience.
In such cases we employ high end restoration equipment which carefully transforms warped records into perfectly flat vinyl thereby eliminating as far as possible all distortion.
You, of course, choose which choice of cleaning method is best for you.
